Media Spokesperson

Job Description

• Serves as a Unidef media spokesperson including serving as Unidef's communications lead;
• Develops, manages, coordinates, conducts, and evaluates public and media relations and internal communications;
• Builds support and advocacy for Unidef initiatives;
• Produces and disseminates content through electronic communications, social media, the internet and the intranet;
• Utilizes social media and technology to amplify messages;
• Regularly represents Unidef at internal and external meetings with public and private sector groups;
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports on Unidef's media coverage; identifies potential controversial issues and works with staff to develop appropriate media strategies and messages;
• Assists VPs with communications and presentations for various internal and external constituencies;
• Prepares news releases, feature stories, blogs, media advisories, talking points, speeches, presentations, publications, and articles for internal and external information, including planning, writing, and editing;
• Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships and performs liaison activities with community groups, government officials, and special interest groups to gain support for Unidef's goals and programs;
• Interviews Unidef officials, employees, and representatives from various groups, organizations, and the general public to secure information;
• Oversees media contact logs, develops quarterly publicity reports, and initiates video monitoring system;
• Prepares reports and correspondence;
• Provides on-call support, 24 hours/day;
• Performs related work as required.
