Job Description

The contract engineer is responsible for the preparation, review, and administration of all kinds of contracts in both Persian and English format. He is accountable for safeguarding AHDAF Co’s interests in all assigned contracts signed by the company and also the contracts of subsidiary companies from the proposal development stage to contract administration during delivery and handing over stages. This includes but is not limited to preparing/reviewing supervision contracts, addressing contractual matters, resolving disputes, and providing expert advice. Following up on the implementation of the contractual obligations of the parties during the validity of the contracts, maintaining compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards, and having experience in negotiating, writing, and interpreting terms, conditions, and requirements of contractual agreements, are part of this job. Monitoring the performance of the main contracts in the subsidiary companies through the analysis of their monthly reports, holding meetings with the project manager as well and monthly site visits of the project progress are among the duties of the contract engineer.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write, evaluate, negotiate, and execute various contracts.
  • Detailed review of reports related to contracts received from various sub-companies.
  • Participate in various contractual meetings and prepare minutes of meetings related to contractual disputes
  • Review contracts task force activities (e.g., project budget and staffing mix, project contracting plans, request for proposal bid evaluations, contracts, and monthly reports, etc.)
  • Formulate a contracting strategy for individual contracts.
  • Perform resource survey and contract risk assessment and issue report of findings.
  • Create presentations using graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate contract status.
  • Provide assessment with corrective action recommendations to management.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance to others in the resolution of contract problems.
  • Perform other functions associated with this position as appropriate.
  • Travel to attend to business-related matters

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • More than seven years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Solid understanding of legal and contractual terminology of both Persian and English contracts especially in the field of Oil and Gas.
  • Full knowledge of bills for delays, adjustments, insurance and tax laws of contracting, and procurement contracts, and all of the contract terms.
  • Full knowledge of all kinds of contracts including epc, ep, boo, bot, and so on.
  • Full knowledge of all kinds of equipment.
  • Complete mastery of domestic transportation methods and international transportation of equipment such as the concepts of ICNOTERMS.
  • Complete mastery of matters related to export and import in the customs part, such as customs clearance, customs tariff, insurance, etc.
  • Complete mastery of all contractual guarantees and their format.
  • Complete mastery of the laws related to various contracts inside Iran and their custodian.
  • Complete mastery of topics related to the types of pricing in the contract and means of payment and terms of payments.
  • Complete knowledge of the letter of credits (LC).
  • Familiarity with money transfer methods inside and outside of Iran.
  • Pro-active, self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Full knowledge of English.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills comfortable interacting with senior executives.
  • Proficient in administrative and commercial letter writing and report writing.
  • Familiar with the literature of the Oil, Petrochemical, and Gas industry.
  • Certificates in principles of contract writing are a plus.
  • Graduating from the top national universities of Iran is a plus.
  • Good academic records and excellent grades are a plus.
