Job Description

The laboratory deputy manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our paint laboratory, overseeing technical activities, and contributing to the development and implementation of new and improved paint formulations for our OEM clients. This position reports to the Lab Manager and acts as a key liaison between the laboratory and other departments, including production, R&D, and sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the R&D manager in overseeing all laboratory operations, including testing, analysis, and documentation.
  • Lead and manage a team of laboratory technicians, providing training, supervision, and performance feedback.
  • Develop and implement standardized test procedures and ensure adherence to industry standards and quality control protocols.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of new paint formulations, working closely with R&D and production teams.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, providing technical reports and recommendations to support product development and process optimization.
  • Participate in customer visits and technical discussions, presenting laboratory findings and collaborating on solutions.
  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Manage laboratory equipment and consumables, ensuring proper calibration and inventory control.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience, preferably in paint and coatings.
  • Experience managing and supervising laboratory technicians.
  • Strong understanding of paint chemistry, formulation, and testing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in laboratory equipment and software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality assurance.
