Job Description

  • Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers after taking relevant approvals.
  • Respond to suppliers about order status, changes, or cancellations.
  • Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
  • Review requisition orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports, and price lists.
  • Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
  • Calculate costs of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Commerce, or Business.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a purchasing officer or a purchasing assistant.
  • Previous experience in buying solvents, packing materials, and lab equipment is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP software.
