Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Geological Operations & Wellsite Support:

-Mud and Cuttings Analysis: Analyze mud and drill cuttings to support lithology identification, formation evaluation, and real-time geological decision-making during drilling operations.
-Well Characteristics Monitoring: Chart pressure, temperature, and other characteristics of wells or boreholes to support well surveillance and geological assessment.
-Geology Lead on Platform Teams: Provide geology lead on small platform teams, delivering geological guidance to drilling and operations personnel.
-Wellsite Geological Supervision (supplementary): Supervise geological operations at wellsite, including cutting description, formation tops picking, casing/core point determination, and daily geological reporting, in coordination with mud logging and wireline service providers.

Subsurface Interpretation & Stratigraphic Framework:

-Subsurface Data Integration: Perform subsurface interpretation, analysis, and integration of well, seismic, core, biostratigraphy, geochemical, petrophysical, and well performance data.
-Well Correlation & Formation Tops (supplementary): Conduct well correlation and establish formation tops tables, cross sections and map views to maintain a consistent regional stratigraphic framework.
-Lithological Interpretation (supplementary): Perform lithological interpretation and facies description combining core, cutting and log data to characterize reservoir intervals.

Reservoir Description & Static Modeling:

-Reservoir Description: Be familiar with the reservoir description and the geological modeling to support integrated reservoir studies.
-Static Model Studies: Perform reservoir static model studies to aid concerned management in making decisions regarding the development of the field, predicting future production, planning for additional wells, and evaluating alternative reservoir management scenarios.
-Reservoir Maps & OOIP: Revise reservoir maps and calculate deterministic OOIP (Original Oil in Place) to support volumetric assessment and development planning.

Well Design & Well Test Support:

-Well Geological Design: Review and prepare the well geological design report to define geological objectives, targets, and requirements for new wells.
-Well Test Support: Provide the technological support for the well test design to ensure test objectives are geologically sound.
-New Deposit Investigation: Investigate and collect information leading to the possible discovery of new petroleum or gas deposits.

Participate in Setting Departmental Strategic Goals:

-Policy Conformance: Perform all departmental initiatives, processes, and activities in conformance with the organization’s established policies and objectives and take corrective actions when necessary.
-Strategic Support: Devise methods to meet departmental strategic goals and develop policies in line with Geological Management Section directions.

HSE & Compliance:

-HSE Compliance: Ensure full compliance of department activities with HSE regulations and policies and be well-trained about his/her role in the Company Emergency Response Plan.
-Auditing Responsiveness: Be responsive to internal or external auditing practices and support departmental auditing and reporting requirements.

Reporting & Coordination:

-Technical Reporting: Prepare geological interpretation reports, reservoir maps, OOIP calculations, and well geological design reports in conformance with departmental standards.
-Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate with Petrophysical Engineer, Reservoir Engineer, Drilling and Production teams to deliver integrated subsurface interpretations and support field development decisions.

REQUIREMENTS:

1) Four-year bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
2) A Master’s degree is preferred.
3) Minimum 4 years of experience in the same field with a proven track record.
4) Knowledge of the practical application of geological engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and perform operational activities.
5) Familiarity with reservoir description, geological modeling, and static model studies.
6) Good command of the English Language

Communication: To adjust the tone and style according to the audience, comprehend and act efficiently on instructions, and explain complex issues to colleagues and clients alike.

Teamwork: To have the intuition and interpersonal acumen to know when to be a listener, and to be perceptive, as well as receptive to the needs and responsibilities of others.

Analytical & Problem-solving: Strong ability to integrate multi-source geological data and resolve ambiguities in subsurface interpretation.

Ability to Work under Pressure and Time Management: To think clearly and to have the capacity to compartmentalize and set stress aside within tight deadlines.
