Job Description

As a key aide to both the IT and Delivery teams, you will help support existing Oracle instances in terms of availability and performance, as well as advising on future installations, and best database practise in solutions implemented by Aircom International. To support the product deployment process in line with the roadmap for product maintenance and enhancement such that the quality of software deliverables maintains excellent customer relationships and increases the customer base. •To proactively monitor existing Oracle instances to ensure high availability and performance of database services. •To work with the Customer, Delivery teams & IT Infrastructure to strive to ensure the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases will provide high availability and optimum performance. •Accept responsibility for problem escalation to line manager, in the event of database availability / performance problems, and provide realistic, achievable potential solutions to the problems. •Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades. •Responsible for implementation and release of database changes, in both staging and production environments. •Support the IT implementation teams to ensure high availability of the databases. •Administer and support Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g and SQL databases including routine and periodic Backup/ Restore based on Client requirements. •Perform Oracle installations. •Perform monitoring and tuning and capacity planning. •Perform database recovery.
