Medical sales representatives (widely referred to as reps) are a key link between medical and pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals. They sell their company s products, which include medicines, OTCs, prescription drugs and medical equipment, to a variety of customers including general practitioners, hospitals and pharmacies and medical societies. They also work strategically to increase the awareness and use of their companys pharmaceutical and medical products.
All activities must be compatible to medical references, product labels, international approvals, principal company product label as well as code of conduct and ethics of Shafayab, principal company and MOH.

Typical work activities
In any setting, the process of selling involves contacting potential customers, identifying their professional needs, persuading them that your products or services (rather than those of competitors) can satisfy those needs; closing the sale by agreeing the terms and conditions; and providing an on time and appropriate after-sales service and follow ups. All activities must be compatible to medical references, product labels, international approvals as well as code of conduct and ethics of Shafayab, principal company and MOH.
Medical sales representatives do all of below activities:
Planning, field activity and Reporting
Medical sales representatives activities planning are based on full presence in the field under supervision of the direct manager (company supervisor, company specialist, FLM,...), except the direct manager approves an office time in necessary cases. This is in accordance to Shafayab guidelines.
Working days are Saturdays till Thursdays 9-13 and 16-20 with full day field activity of at least 8 hours. More than 8 hours might happen and is not compensated.
Activities in official holidays which might happen due to events, congresses, trainings … are mandatory and are compensated by extra payment or parallel off determined by direct manager.
Post travel off is a compensation option which is up to 4 hours and is implemented the morning after the travel and is not deferrable. Cancellation of this off might happen in necessary cases by direct manager.
Planning work schedules for daily, weekly and monthly timetables (Action plans). This may involve working with other team members or discussing future targets with the sales and marketing supervisor.
Mission trips planning in accordance with Shafayab guidelines.
Action plan outlines face to face calls, mission trips, group meetings, conferences, seminars, and standalones to reach one or more SMART sales and marketing objectives.
Face to face calls arranging appointments with doctors, pharmacists and hospital medical teams, which may include pre-arranged appointments or regular cold (unexpected) calling;
Developing strategies for increasing opportunities to meet and talk to contacts in the medical and healthcare sector;
Arranging appointments for double visits for the purpose of coaching or doctors needs.
Categorizing, segmentation and targeting of all the customers.
Submitting detailed records of all contacts and activities. (Call reports); Shafayab or Company format of reporting is the reference.
Reps are responsible for a wide range of activities for arranging and holding group meetings and presentations to doctors, practice staff, nurses, hospital doctors and pharmacists in the retail sector as well as distributers staffs. Presentations may take place in medical settings during the day, or may be conducted in the mornings or evenings at a local hotel, restaurant or conference venue;
Reps are responsible for a wide range of activities for organizing participation of doctors and medical staffs in national and international congresses and stand alone.
Building and maintaining positive working relationships with medical staff and supporting administrative staff, doctors offices, pharmacy and hospital ones.
Reaching (and if possible exceeding) annual sales targets.
Profit and loss consideration for holding events for example for catering, speakers, conferences, hospitality, etc under supervision of direct manager.
Monitoring and analyzing of sales, stocks, costs, and target achievements in assigned area.
Maintaining knowledge of new developments in National Health Service and MOH regulations, anticipating potential negative and positive impacts on the business and adapting strategy accordingly.
Keeping well informed and being updated on treatment protocols, purchasing processes in assigned territories,
Updating the demographic data in assigned territories: population, habits, cultures geographical endemics as well as SWOT.
Active attendance in company meetings, technical data presentations, sales reviews and briefings.
Keeping up-to-date with the latest clinical data supplied by the company, and interpreting, presenting and discussing this data with health professionals during presentations;
Staying informed about the activities of health services in a particular area.
Keeping perfect skills and knowledge (product, field, competitors)
Monitoring competitor(s) activity(s) and competitor(s) products.
Developing, keeping updated the data base which is visited and submitting it to direct manager.
Distributing the promotional material according to plan received from direct manager
Keeping all activities compatible with code of conduct and ethics of Shafayab, principal company and MOH.
