Job Description
Sales Engineer | Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Industries
Nahadin Arman is looking for an experienced, commercially minded, well-connected, and results-driven Sales Engineer to support our business development and sales growth across the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical industries.
We are not looking for a conventional salesperson.
We are looking for someone who understands the industry, knows the key players, identifies commercial opportunities, manages tenders, negotiates effectively, and follows opportunities all the way to contracts and actual revenue.
Role Mission:
The mission of this position is to develop the market, generate qualified sales opportunities, and convert commercial opportunities into profitable contracts across the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical sectors.
The commercial journey is:
Market Intelligence → Relationship Building → Opportunity Identification → Negotiation → Tender → Commercial Proposal → Contract → Revenue
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
Identify new projects, customer needs, and sales opportunities across the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical industries.
Develop relationships with target companies, contractors, EPCs, industrial organizations, and key stakeholders.
Identify decision-makers and influential stakeholders within purchasing and procurement processes.
Convert market intelligence and professional relationships into qualified sales opportunities.
Manage sales opportunities from initial identification through contract award.
Build and maintain long-term commercial relationships with customers and business partners.
Tender & Bid Management
Identify and actively pursue relevant tenders and procurement opportunities.
Manage the tender process from opportunity identification through final outcome.
Review tender documents, commercial requirements, technical requirements, and qualification criteria.
Coordinate with technical, financial, legal, and operational teams to prepare competitive proposals.
Monitor deadlines, documentation, submissions, clarifications, and tender requirements.
Manage and follow up activities through the Iranian Government Electronic Procurement System.
Maintain continuous follow-up until the tender reaches a final outcome and, where successful, converts into a contract.
Negotiation & Customer Management
Lead and participate in commercial negotiations with customers and key stakeholders.
Understand customer requirements and translate them into appropriate solutions.
Manage commercial and technical discussions within the scope of responsibility.
Identify sales barriers and develop practical strategies to overcome them.
Maintain disciplined follow-up throughout the sales cycle.
Transfer relevant market intelligence and customer requirements to technical and management teams.
Industry Relationship Development
This position requires real and effective industry relationships.
The successful candidate should be able to:
Identify and professionally engage with influential individuals across the industry.
Continuously develop and expand a valuable professional network.
Turn relationships and market access into genuine commercial opportunities.
Move relationships beyond initial contact toward business development and revenue generation.
Who Are We Looking For?
Someone who simply waits for sales leads is not the right fit.
We are looking for a hunter-minded, opportunity-driven Sales Engineer who:
Continuously monitors the market.
Identifies opportunities before competitors do.
Creates relationships instead of waiting for them.
Knows how to negotiate.
Does not lose momentum when the sales cycle becomes difficult.
Does not stop at the first rejection.
Can communicate effectively with people at different organizational levels.
Follows opportunities until a clear outcome is achieved.
Takes ownership of commercial results.
Key Competencies
Industry Knowledge:
A strong practical understanding of the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical ecosystem, including market players, procurement structures, tender processes, and commercial dynamics.
Negotiation
Ability to conduct professional negotiations, manage objections, protect commercial value, and move discussions toward a successful outcome.
Relationship Building
Ability to create, maintain, and develop valuable professional relationships and convert them into business opportunities.
Follow-through:
Ability to manage an opportunity from the first contact through negotiation, tender, contract, and final outcome.
Commercial Intelligence:
Ability to distinguish between opportunities worth investing time and resources in and those that are unlikely to generate value.
Results Orientation:
Focus on contracts, revenue, and measurable business outcomes—not merely activities and reports.
Communication:
Ability to communicate professionally with executives, engineers, procurement teams, contractors, and decision-makers.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of proven sales experience in the Oil, Gas, or Petrochemical industries.
Strong knowledge of professional negotiation principles and techniques.
Established and meaningful professional relationships within the industry.
Practical experience managing and following up tenders from initiation through final outcome.
Strong working knowledge of the Iranian Government Electronic Procurement System.
Willingness and ability to travel for business assignments, particularly to southern regions of Iran.
Minimum high school diploma in Mathematics.
Ability to manage multiple sales opportunities and tender processes simultaneously.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role is not measured by the number of calls, meetings, or tenders followed up.
The real questions are:
How many qualified opportunities were created?
How many reached meaningful negotiations?
How many negotiations became contracts?
And how much actual revenue was generated for the company?
The Success Formula:
Industry Knowledge + Relationships + Opportunity Hunting + Negotiation + Follow-through + Tender Management = Contracts & Revenue
If you know the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical market, have a genuine professional network, and enjoy turning relationships and opportunities into real contracts, this position may be the right opportunity for you.
