Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Logging Management for New Wells:

 Logging Program Design: Design logging suites for new wells based on geological objectives and drilling programs, including mandatory and optional logging items, to ensure the logging program meets formation evaluation requirements
 Real-time Well Tracking & Log Interpretation: Track logging operations during new well drilling in real time, perform quick-look log interpretation promptly to provide geological guidance for drilling decisions
 Log Data Quality Control: Supervise the acquisition of new well logging data, perform quality control and acceptance checks to ensure data integrity and accuracy for subsequent interpretation and modeling
 Log Data Management: Establish and maintain the petrophysical database, including input, standardization, and archiving of well log curves, ensuring data traceability and reusability.

Stratigraphic Correlation & Zonation:

 Stratigraphic Correlation: Perform single-well and multi-well stratigraphic correlation based on log response characteristics to establish a regional stratigraphic framework
 Geological Zonation: Determine layer group divisions, sand group and sub-layer correlation schemes for each well to provide the basis for reservoir geological modeling
 Marker Bed Identification: Identify regional marker beds and establish consistent correlation standards to ensure consistent stratigraphic correlation.

Log Interpretation & Formation Evaluation:

 Conventional Log Interpretation: Perform conventional log interpretation for new and existing wells, including calculation of porosity, permeability, saturation, and lithology parameters
 Integrated Formation Evaluation: Conduct integrated formation evaluation combining log, mud logging, core, and test data to identify reservoirs, barriers, and fluid types
 Special Log Interpretation: Carry out interpretation and analysis of special logs as needed (e.g., NMR, image logs, acoustic logs) to meet production requirements
 Interpretation Deliverables: Prepare log interpretation reports, including interpretation cross-sections, data tables, and summary results, for geological modeling and reservoir evaluation.

Petrophysical Support for Geological Modeling:

 Petrophysical Input for Modeling: Provide standardized and QC'd log curves, interpretation results, and property parameters to geological modelers
 Lithology/Facies Interpretation: Deliver single-well lithology interpretation and facies classification results to support property assignment in the 3D model
 Property Parameter Calculation: Generate porosity, permeability, and water saturation property curves for modelers to use in 3D property modeling.

Core Analysis Study:

 Core Depth Shifting & Calibration: Perform core depth shifting to establish depth correspondence between core and log data
 Core Description & Data Compilation: Participate in core observation and description, compile routine core analysis (RCAL) and special core analysis (SCAL) data
 Core-to-Log Calibration: Calibrate log interpretation models using core analysis data to improve the accuracy and reliability of petrophysical interpretation.

Production Logging (PLT) Interpretation:

 PLT Job Tracking: Track production logging (PLT) operations to ensure data acquisition quality
 PLT Interpretation & Analysis: Conduct PLT interpretation to analyze zonal production allocation, injection profiles, fluid properties, and wellbore conditions
 Application of PLT Results: Apply PLT interpretation results to reservoir performance analysis, workover planning, and production optimization.

Reporting & Coordination:

 Petrophysical Reports: Prepare logging program reports, new well log interpretation reports, PLT interpretation reports, and core analysis study reports
 Cross-departmental Coordination: Collaborate with Geology, Reservoir, Drilling, and Production departments to ensure petrophysical interpretation results effectively support production decisions
 Database Maintenance: Maintain the petrophysical database and interpretation results repository to ensure data security, integrity, and ease of sharing

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or other relevant engineering field. Master's degree is preferred.

Minimum 4 years of experience in petrophysical evaluation, well log interpretation, and formation evaluation. Experience in carbonate and clastic reservoirs is preferred.

Knowledge:

 Deep understanding of petrophysical principles, well log interpretation techniques, and formation evaluation workflows
 Knowledge of open-hole and cased-hole logging tools and applications
 Familiarity with rock physics, core analysis and SCAL data integration
 Understanding of reservoir geology and static modeling concepts
Skills
 Communication: To adjust the tone and style according to the audience, comprehend and act efficiently on instructions, and explain complex technical issues to colleagues and clients alike
 Teamwork: To have the intuition and interpersonal acumen to know when to be a listener, and to be perceptive, as well as receptive to the needs and responsibilities of others
 Analytical & Problem-solving: Strong ability to integrate multi-source data and resolve ambiguities in formation evaluation
 Ability to Work Under Pressure: To think clearly and to compartmentalize stress within tight deadlines

Technology Skills:

 Proficiency in petrophysical interpretation software (e.g., IP, Geolog, Techlog)
 Experience with Petrel software for property modeling
 Familiarity with geological mapping and correlation software
 Competence in Microsoft Office Suite
