Job Description

Laboratory Operations Management:

• Supervise daily lab activities, ensuring experiments and tests are conducted efficiently and accurately.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor lab performance to ensure quality and consistency.

Staff Supervision and Training:

• Recruit, train, and manage laboratory personnel.
• Schedule and assign tasks to lab technicians and researchers.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.

Equipment and Inventory Management:

• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Oversee the procurement, storage, and disposal of lab supplies and chemicals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.

Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure the lab adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and enforce safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials.
• Conduct regular safety audits and train staff in proper safety practices.

Budget and Resource Management:

• Manage the laboratory’s budget, including purchasing and maintenance costs.
• Allocate resources effectively to support ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Monitor expenses and find cost-effective solutions.

Quality Assurance:

• Ensure all lab activities comply with quality standards (e.g., ISO, GLP, GMP).
• Implement quality control procedures to maintain high testing standards.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of lab activities and results.

Reporting and Communication:

• Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders on lab performance.
• Collaborate with other departments, clients, or external auditors as needed.

Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or a PhD may be required for specialized labs (e.g., research labs).

Professional Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of laboratory experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a specific industry or field (e.g., clinical, pharmaceutical, environmental labs).

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of lab techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Understanding quality standards such as ISO 17025, GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).

Soft Skills

• Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
• Organization: Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving: Analytical skills to troubleshoot issues efficiently.

Certifications (Optional but Preferred):
