Job Description
Position Overview:
The technical consultant will serve as Infinity Galaxy’s technical advisor on the vendor-led project to redesign and develop WordPress websites. The consultant will oversee the vendor’s technical project plan, ensure quality standards are met, mitigate risks, and provide strategic guidance on architecture, security, scalability, and performance to align with the company’s digital transformation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Vendor Management:
- Review and assess the vendor’s detailed project plan, timelines, and milestones for each website.
- Evaluate proposed WordPress architecture to ensure scalability and manageability.
- Identify potential risks in the vendor’s plan (e.g., plugin dependencies, security vulnerabilities, hosting setups) and propose mitigation strategies.
- Act as the company’s technical point of contact to clarify requirements and review deliverables from external freelancers.
Quality Assurance & Code Review:
- Oversee the quality of the codebase (themes, plugins, customizations) to ensure it meets best practices in security, performance, and maintainability.
- Conduct spot checks of vendor deliverables, including functional testing, mobile responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Validate adherence to agreed SEO best practices (on-page SEO, metadata, redirects).
Technical Strategy & Architecture:
- Advise on designing and implementing a shared design system and component library for consistency across all sites.
- Recommend and validate plugin choices for SEO, forms, analytics, caching, and security.
- Ensure robust backup, SSL, and monitoring systems are planned and implemented properly.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Project Director, Brand & Marketing Lead, and other internal team members to align technical decisions with business objectives (lead generation, SEO, brand awareness).
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and accessible manner.
- Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to internal IT & Support teams for post-launch maintenance.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Document key technical decisions, vendor performance, and project status updates for internal reporting.
- Develop a risk register highlighting technical dependencies, assumptions, and recommended mitigations.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for CMS setup, backups, security, and post-launch maintenance guidelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of web development experience, with deep WordPress architecture expertise, including multisite management, theme and plugin customization, and performance optimization.
- Proven experience overseeing or auditing vendor-led projects, including managing timelines and ensuring code quality.
- Strong knowledge of technical SEO best practices and on-page SEO implementation.
- Experience with project management tools and design collaboration platforms (e.g., Figma).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with web security best practices, backups, SSL, and DNS management.
Preferred:
- Experience with large-scale WordPress redesigns (multi-site projects) and migration.
- Understanding of UX/UI collaboration processes with designers.
- Familiarity with cloud hosting environments and deployment best practices.
