Job Description

Senior civil/ structural engineer is responsible for the activities related to civil/ structural engineering of the surface facilities including engineering design, procurement, construction, Pre commissioning and commissioning. Other Responsibilities: • Prepare/ review project documents and specifications. • Review and comment on documents prepared by detail design engineering teams and contractors. • Make necessary calculations and design of structures and foundations according to the project schedule. • Giving advice and guidance to engineering team regarding the calculation and design of the related structures and foundations. • Coordinate the work done by staff group and sub contractors (calculations, drawings, specification and documents) according to the time schedule and budget. • Good knowledge of engineering codes and standards according to the project design basis. • Computer literate and good knowledge of engineering softwares and methods. • Inter discipline coordination and cooperation to avoid any discrepancy between civil/ structural drawing and documents and other disciplines documents. • Cooperation with project engineer and project manager regarding the civil/ structural department. • Site visits from construction activities and attend meetings at the site and solve problems and/ or give recommendations. • Interacting with computers. • Analyzing data or information; Identifying the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts. • Getting information; Observing, receiving and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. • Making decisions and solving problems; Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. • Processing information; Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing or verifying information or data. • Monitor processes, materials or surroundings; Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events or the environment to detect or assess problems. • Thinking creatively; Developing, designing or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems or products, including artistic contributions. • Communicating with supervisors, Peers or subordinates; Providing information to supervisors, co workers and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person. • Updating and using relevant knowledge; Keeping up to date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. • Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards; Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards Active listening; Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate time. • Critical thinking; Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. • Reading comprehension; Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. • Complex problem solving; Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. • Speaking; Talking to others to convey information effectively. • Science; Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems. • Writing: Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. • Judgment and decision making; Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. • Operations analysis; Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design. • Monitoring; Monitoring/ assessing performance of yourself, other individuals or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
