Job Description

Main Responsibilities: Exercises proper control of the company's fixed assets, ensuring accurate up to date records are kept of assets, including location and current value as per the requirements. Participates in the disposal of depreciated fixed assets. Other Duties: - Carries out a range of tasks to ensure that all fixed assets are properly accounted for, Includes maintaining correct codes, numbering and re coding as required. Monitors the execution of all AFE's to ensure the timely transfer of AFE to assets. Assigns code and value in the books. - Plans, coordinates and carries out the physical count of all assets on an annual basis. This includes the on site verification of the asset at the designated location, recording findings and condition and updating the system based on the results of the asset count. - Prepares asset count report based on the physical count, highlighting conditions in terms of possible future actions and submits report to NIOC. Receives and answers any inquiries and provides feedback to Section Head and Manager. - Maintains the company's asset register, showing purchase value, life expectancy of assets and possible/current disposal actions. Updates addition disposal of assets together with their value in asset register. - Advises asset disposal committee on the status of assets currently being disposed of. - Identifies surplus equipment for disposal based on operational management's determination of asset and spare parts requirements - Participates in the activities of the asset disposal committee as designated by the section head. Provides information to committee on assets ready for disposal, follows up on agreed actions including arranging with general services for the auction or selling of assets, liaising with NIOC departments on disposal coordination and removing asset details from register system after disposal. - Indicates at the end of the year the value of all current assets, showing purchase value, addition and disposal by year end. Works in accordance with company policies and professional standards. Some matters related to asset disposal are not straightforward requiring some interpretation of policy. Provides advice directly to line manager on fixed asset disposal and will refer matters to be discussed at the disposal committee. Work is subject to spot checking.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: - Degree in business, accounting or commerce - 4 years of experience in general accounting - Fluency in English Overtime acceptable Skills: Familiar with Microsoft product
