
Job Description
Wellsite geologists study rock cuttings from oil and gas wells to determine what rock formations are being drilled into and how drilling should proceed. They identify critical strata from core samples and rock cutting data and build up knowledge of the structure being drilled. They are experienced geologists, deciding when specialised tests should be carried out and, ultimately, when to stop drilling. They send reports and logs of completed drilling to the operations geologist and offer geological advice to oil company representatives. They incorporate health and safety requirements in daily geological operations. Wellsite geologists also liaise with drilling engineers, petroleum engineers and mudloggers during the course of projects. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Operation geology; Be involved in the management of the geology contracts. 2. Local geological issues; data collection and affairs with clients and other organizations. 3. Prepare proposals/ designs/ programs/ reports/ materials of operation geology. 4. Be involved in the well plan and well location visit/ study if needed. 5. Monitor and follow up the daily drilling operation, analyze problems occurring in drilling campaign and provide the operation geology technical support to well site. 6. Follow the company regulations, HSE and all other procedures security. 7. Be updated to management and new technology. 8. Be creative and work as a team member closely with colleagues; have a good communication. 9. Review and follow up all operational and geology well reports and select appropriate and economical for the company. 10. Follow the instructions of operation manager and complete the work assignment in time. Actively report the work progress and quality to operation manager daily, weekly and monthly.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements: • Educational Background: B.Sc. in Geology or equivalent. • Minimum years of experiences: 5 years of diversified petroleum industry, experience in geology or reservoir activities including 2-3 years well site experience. • Computer Skills: Having good knowledge of computer operation and relevant software. • Language Skills: Very good knowledge of English.
