Role Description:
Main Raw Material (RM) Sourcing
• Identify and qualify reliable suppliers for tomatoes, vegetables, spices, edible oils, and packaging (tinplate, cartons, labels, closures, pouches).
• Develop and manage long-term RM contracts and monitor price volatility and availability.
• Ensure suppliers meet our Quality specifications, traceability, and food safety requirements.
• Monitor crop cycles, lead times, and logistics to maintain a consistent supply flow.
• Communicate requirements and learning to procurement to manage the ST and LT Purchasing Plan
2. Co-Packer Identification & Evaluation and Cost Analysis
• Map and screen potential co-packers for tomato paste, canned vegetables, sauces, and other processed foods.
• Conduct cost breakdown analysis of each co-packer including:
o Conversion cost (labor, energy, depreciation, overhead)
o Packaging material sourcing responsibilities
o Yield expectations, wastage rates, and rejection handling
• Benchmark co-packer pricing vs internal production and market standards.
3. Co-Packer Operational & Quality Evaluation
• Evaluate and audit co-packers based on:
o Production quality (e.g., defect rate, rework rate, microbial compliance)
o Operational efficiency (e.g., uptime, shift capacity, throughput)
o Yield performance and raw material loss rates
o Compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and customer standards
• Work closely with QA and Technical teams to ensure process validation, first article approval, and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Support implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement plans at partner sites.
Key Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Technology, Agribusiness, or Industrial Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in food/FMCG sourcing, cost analysis, or manufacturing partnerships
• Strong knowledge of:
o Food production cost structures and co-packing financial models
o Quality systems (HACCP, GMP, ISO) and operational performance metrics (OEE, yield, defect rate)
o Agricultural RM pricing, processing losses, and value chain planning
• Strong negotiation, project management, and vendor audit skills
• Willingness to travel regularly to supplier and co-packer sites
