Job Description

As Legal and Compliance Counsel, we expect you to provide fast, effective, high quality and business oriented day to day support to your colleagues at Local Manufacturing Tehran (LMT), to ensure achievement of business objectives in compliance with all relevant local and internal guidelines, procedures, laws and regulations, to review drafts and assist with negotiation of various contracts and agreements and to draft and review all other legal documents, to assist with employment issues and to represent the company before the labor dispute boards, if required. We also expect you to follow up and collaborate with external legal counsels, to seek advice in regard to the referred matters, to assist the LC Manager with Local Manufacturing and Product Supply legal and compliance tasks, to assist with obtaining and maintain the validity of LMT licenses to operate, to serve as the point-of-contact for the authorities and to be present before local authorities as ‘legal representative’ of the company, and to assist with keeping and improving all legal and compliance databases, including physical and electronic. Supporting LMT departments in identifying legal risks and report the identified legal risks to the LC Manager, implementation of risk preventive and controlling measures in alignment with the LC Manager, and effective collaboration and alignment with Legal and Compliance colleagues in the affiliate and providing support to them in times of need are also part of your responsibilities. Other than this, you are responsible for ensuring effective implementation and adherence to compliance and Business Ethics policies, strategies and SOPs, providing high quality Business Ethics training, refreshment, advice and support to internal and external stakeholders and business partners, identifying Business Ethics risks and assisting the LC Manager for controlling the risks, preparing presentations and submit reports as may be required on Business Ethics and compliance issues and major risks, investigating and reporting Business Ethics breaches and other legal/compliance violations and ensuring proper action is taken in collaboration with P&O Department, assisting the LC Manager for corporate internal Business Ethics auditing and local compliance review, serving as data privacy officer of LMT and providing support in the process of due diligence. Last but not least, you will be responsible to provide high quality Sanctions and Export Control training, refreshment, advice and support to your colleagues at LMT, to stay alert on international trends and to stay updated with recent changes in regulations, to support LMT colleagues with sanction screening process, to provide Sanction and Export Control related advice in terms of goods and services required at LMT in alignment with the LC Manager and to cooperate with Corporate Legal and GBS on sanction screening related issues.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a Law Degree from an Iranian high-ranked Law School, LL.M. Degree or equivalent (desired), license to practice as an attorney is a plus, with at least 4+ years of legal experience in a private law firm or a multinational company (experience in a multinational company in the Pharmaceutical, chemical, life science or medical device or in an international law firm will be a plus). Extensive knowledge of production units’ issues including labour law and business transactions in a manufacturing site is also required for this position. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will need an open mindset who can work independently and as a team player with a strong focus on results. Further to this, you should have good communication skills with the ability to establish good relationship with local and global team.
