Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, humanitarian, non-governmental organisation providing assistance to people in need as a result of natural and man-made disasters, irrespective of race, religion, ideology or politics. MSF was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1999. MSF has provided medical assistance to vulnerable people in Iran since 1990.
MSF in Iran is seeking to employ a qualified candidate for the following position:
NURSING TEAM SUPERVISOR

City of work: Kerman
Starting date: ASAP
Contract: FULL-TIME Long commitment with first contract of 3 months

Main purpose of the job

Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.

Represent the values and principles of MSF and maintain ethical and professional conduct with all patients and referral medical facilities’ authorities.
Responsibilities and tasks

• Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anaesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
• Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
• Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
• Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
• Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
• Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
Specific accountabilities for the role:

• Overall responsible for IPC and nursing care:Improve quality of care by being the IPC focal point and supervision of nursing activities . Ensure all staff in the clinic respect and implement the universal hygiene standards/precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, ensuring high standards of hygiene. Appropriate PPE is worn when necessary.
• Promote hygiene among the patients within the PHCC through hand washing with the support of CHWs. Ensure proper waste segregation is known and respected b all staff in the clinic.
• Establish a functional IPC committee with an all-inclusive membership. Hold meetings regularly and share minutes with action plan to improve hygiene in the PHCC.
• Ensure patients are received well and triaged, initial nursing procedures performed (vital signs).Those with lack of autonomy are assisted appropriately.
• Ensure complete and accurate documentation for nursing activities and procedures including patients record for accurate data to be encoded in the data base system. Together with the MAM, ensure and assist in the flow of patients as defined in the clinic.
• Knows and is aware of the immediate first aid after Accidental Exposure to blood and body fluid according to MSF protocols. Ensure the staff are aware and reports all cases to PMR.
• Responsible for good pharmacy management of medical supplies in Triage, procedure room, RDT room. (follow-up of expired drugs inventories, ensuring no material is taken out of nursing area without prior authorization, etc.)
• Ensure proper monitoring of consumption in the end users’ unit by tallying consumed items.
• Timely preparation of medical orders for the end user units under her supervision.
• Regular trainings to improve and strengthen the nurses on nursing procedures
• Provide PFA to patients as per training receive from the MH team.
• Responsible for sterilization, sending and collecting material from sterilization room to the dressing room, always ensuring availability of sterilized material in the clinic. Ensure the sterilization SOP is followed strictly.
• Assist in carrying out surveillance and follow-up of patients on observation (i.e. assessment of the evolution of their condition.
• Follow up and support through refresher trainings to ensure nurses perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment as per protocol.
• Gap filling for other nurses. Ensure gaps created by the absence of other nurses are filled to avoid disruption of patient care.
• Assists the doctor with stabilization of patients and eventual preparations for patient’s referral.
• Always respect confidentiality of patient records and information.
• Any other job assigned to you by your supervisor.

The tasks above are not exhaustive regarding the specificity of MSF and possible evolution that could occur over time through adaptation of the mission. Consequently, other tasks can be asked to allow the mission to function optimally.

Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is essential.

Experience: 2 years of previous experience is essential.
Previous experience in other NGOs is desirable.

Languages: Farsi and English languages are essential.
Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
