Job Description
• Administration of a subset of servers, and application environments critical to business processing. This includes working with application teams responsible for hosted apps, performing application and OS updates as needed, and maintaining server security and compliance as required by corporate policy and standards. • Working ticketing system incident and change management queue as needed. • Perform capacity analysis on virtualization and windows server infrastructure and make recommendations. • Assist senior engineers, technical leads, and management with performance analysis, process improvement, task automation, and systems capacity planning. • Plan, develop, install and maintain the supported environment and adjunct services • Advise on tools, best practice techniques and methodologies • Ensure highest level of availability, reliability and performance for virtualization platforms and associated products • Install upgrades and patches for VMware products • Work with the architecture teams to translate high level business requirements into technical designs and practical solutions • Develop best practices with respect to process and documentation/templates • Transfer knowledge to other team members and share new ideas to improve company products or processes • Participate in an on-call support rotation for providing after-hours support. • Creation and updating of support and architectural documentation as needed. • Ready to work on 24/7 basis.
Requirements
Education: • BSc or MSc in Computer Engineering (Software, Hardware), IT or Computer Science Basic skills required: • The Ideal candidate will be an Engineer, who is a self-starter, with excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work as part of a team. • In-depth knowledge of Windows Services, Virtualization concepts, tools and techniques • Basic Knowledge of storage technologies (DAS, NAS, SAN) and applications of each technology; • Basic Knowledge of network and information security concepts Corer skills required: • Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 support, including local user/group management, security policy, task scheduler, event logs, performance monitoring, group policy, PowerShell remoting, file/share permissions. • Should have Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting of windows server infrastructure and services • Should have Knowledge of windows security concept and techniques. • VMware virtualization concepts and techniques • Basic Knowledge of Xen and Virtual Box technology have extra distinction. • VMWare certified professional is a definite advantage • Provide Tier 2 and 3 operational support and incident resolution for VMware related technologies. • Maintain a high level of knowledge on the deployment of virtualization technologies. • Web services, Java virtual machines, and the applications that run with these technologies. • IIS 7.x and 8.x configurations and application pools; familiarity with the various authentication configurations within IIS. • Scripting languages, particularly PowerShell; at least a general understanding of cmdlets like get-member, and familiarity with basic scripting concepts. • Apache web services. • Certificate services and how to configure SSL in either IIS or Apache.
