Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Managing and monitoring project environmental issues.
  • Ensuring good environmental protection practices and standards are being implemented in the project.
  • Ensuring safe work practices and equipment are being implemented.
  • Overall responsible for the development and implementation of environmental-related guidelines, procedures, and plans.
  • Management of environmental-related training for company and contractors' employees.
  • Other jobs as requested by site HSE Head and company HSE manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities (In order of importance):

  • Ensuring full compliance with the environment program at the project site.
  • Coordinating, assisting, and following environmental and social impact studies and action plans for the project such as the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the Project's ESHIA program.
  • Identifying and communicating environmental requirements for the project; this includes:
  1. Environmental management and monitoring plans;
  2. Waste management plans;
  3. Chemical Management plans;
  4. Environmental data record keeping;
  5. Environmental reports;
  6. Environmental response plans (e.g. spill response);
  • Monitoring compliance with national and international environmental legislations and reports, following up on the discovered non-compliances.
  • Supporting line supervisors by advising on environmental and social issues, inspections, and audits.
  • Liaison between the Company and NIOC (PEDEC), and the Department of Environment (DOE) in respect of environmental and social issues or ‘best practices.
  • Being a focal point for DOE representatives and following the raised issues.
  • Supporting the line supervisors in investigations and follow-up of environmental incidents and/or non-compliance.
  • Coordinating activities associated with achieving ISO 14001 Certification for Environmental Management at the time when this is included in the Project’s Strategic Objectives and targets.
  • Interviewing, assessing records, and supervising physical or chemical agents, preparing complete and accurate technical records.
  • Taking part in ERP, related training courses, and drills.
  • Monitoring and Implementing the Oil Spill Contingency Plan and Policy during Development and Production Operations.
  • Ensuring emergency equipment for any environmental incident is available and fit for purpose.
  • Inspecting the site and following up on the non-conformities from inspections and audits to ensure environmental-oriented practices to being carried out at the site and all activities are following environmental procedures.
  • Developing and updating environmental-related procedures and plans.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in HSE particularly in the environment section of Oil and Gas projects.
  • At least a Master's degree from an accredited university in Environment Planning Management, Environmental Science and Engineering, or Environmental Impact Assessment.

Certificates:

  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent is an advantage.
  • CertificatesISO 45001, 14001, and 29001 standards auditors.
  • Environment experts’ certification.
  • HSE MS.

Competency:

  • An advanced knowledge of ISO 14001, 45001, and 29001 principles.
  • National and international applicable environment-related laws and regulations.
  • Environment-related special courses.
