Job Description

Mining Operations Manager, responsible for leading extraction teams, managing production processes, optimizing operational costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role entails overseeing all aspects of mining operations, managing large-scale resources and equipment, and requiring in-depth technical expertise in various extraction methods and complex operational management skills.

 

Responsibilities:

• Production & Operations Planning: Develop short-term and long-term production plans, set production targets, and monitor their execution.

• Extraction Method Management: Select, implement, and optimize extraction methods (underground or open-pit) based on mine characteristics and economic viability.

• Machinery & Equipment Management: Oversee the fleet of mining machinery, plan Maintenance (PM/PdM), and ensure operational efficiency.

• Cost Management: Maintain strict control over operational costs, identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction, and manage the allocated budget.

• Occupational Health & Safety: Implement and rigorously monitor adherence to all occupational health and safety regulations in the workplace.

• Team & Contractor Management: Lead operational teams (operators, mining engineers, supervisors), manage their performance, and oversee site contractors.

• Environmental Management: Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and regulations regarding extraction processes and waste management.

• Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with engineering, technical, and sales departments to align extraction operations with overall organizational needs.

 

Skills & Requirements:

• Education: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mining Engineering (Extraction specialization).

• Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mine extraction operations, with at least 5 years in a management role (Production Supervisor, Mine Operations Manager).

• Technical Knowledge: Full command of various mining extraction methods (underground and open-pit), understanding of production planning principles, and sufficient knowledge of mining machinery maintenance.

• Operational Skills: Ability to manage a fleet of mining equipment; deep understanding of the mine operations supply chain.

• Management Skills: Ability for precise operational planning, budget management, team leadership, and crisis management.

• Safety & Environment: Comprehensive knowledge of mine safety and environmental standards.

• Communication Skills: Excellent ability to communicate with employees, contractors, and senior management.
