Job Description
• Administration of a subset of servers, and application environments critical to business processing. This includes working with application teams responsible for hosted apps, performing application and OS updates as needed, and maintaining server security and compliance as required by corporate policy and standards. • Working ticketing system incident and change management queue as needed. • Perform capacity analysis on virtualization and Linux server infrastructure and make recommendations. • Assist senior engineers, technical leads, and management with performance analysis, process improvement, task automation, and systems capacity planning. • Plan, develop, install and maintain the supported environment and adjunct services • Advise on tools, best practice techniques and methodologies • Install upgrades and patches for Linux Distributions • Work with the architecture teams to translate high level business requirements into technical designs and practical solutions • Develop best practices with respect to process and documentation/templates • Transfer knowledge to other team members and share new ideas to improve company products or processes • Participate in an on-call support rotation for providing after-hours support. • Creation and updating of support and architectural documentation as needed. • Ready to work on 24/7 basis. Experience: • Experience of administration of windows server infrastructure in medium and large enterprises; • Experience working in 100+ server environment preferred • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience designing, deploying, configuring, support and Troubleshooting Hands on experience on Windows server and VM-Ware infrastructure • Experience with storage technologies (SAN) and solutions at an enterprise level for IT solutions • Experience of working in enterprise data centers • Proven experience troubleshooting virtualized computing environments as well as those servers running a Windows or Linux operating system
Requirements
Education: • BSc or MSc in Computer Engineering (Software, Hardware), IT or Computer Science Basic skills required: • The Ideal candidate will be an Engineer, who is a self-starter, with excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work as part of a team. • In-depth knowledge of Linux concepts, tools and Infrastructure services • Basic knowledge of operating system and distributed systems concepts • Basic Knowledge of network and information security concepts Corer skills required: • Linux system and services administration (kernel, File systems, Package Management, Shells, Scripting and Data Management) • Linux Networking support • Linux infrastructure services support, including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, FTP, SSH, NTP, NFS, Samba • Linux internet services support, including Cache Proxy Servers, Web Servers and Mail Servers • Should have Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting of Linux virtualization techniques • Should have Knowledge of Linux security services including Firewall, PAM, SELinux, VPN, SSL, Certification Authority • Should have knowledge and experience of configuring Linux Red Hat Based Distributions (red hat enterprise, CentOS, Fedora) and Debian Based Distributions (Ubuntu, Debian) • Mandatory certification required LPIC-1 and (or RHCSA) – [LPIC-2 or RHCE and other red hat related certification will have an extra advantage] • Provide Tier 2 and 3 operational support and incident resolution for Linux related technologies. Experience: • Experience of administration of Linux infrastructure in medium and large enterprises; • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience designing, deploying, configuring, support and Troubleshooting Linux Systems • Experience of troubleshooting virtualized computing environments as well as those servers running a Linux operating system
