Job Title: Agricultural Commodity Trader
Location: IRAN
Role purpose
The Agricultural Commodity Trader originates, executes, and manages trading activity across agricultural products. The role combines supplier and customer relationships, physical execution, including tight follow up on all the related processes logistics, customs, and disciplined risk management.
Key responsibilities
• Develop and execute trading strategies for assigned commodities, geographies, and customer segments.
• Source, buy, sell, and market physical agricultural commodities in line with commercial strategy and delegated authority.
• Analyse supply-and-demand fundamentals, crop forecasts, weather, acreage, harvest progress, trade flows, freight, currency, policy, and geopolitical developments.
• Negotiate contracts covering volumes, specifications, quality, pricing, payment terms, delivery windows, and Incoterms.
• Manage price, basis, currency, credit, counterparty, quality, logistics, and operational risks within approved limits.
• Build trusted relationships with growers, aggregators, suppliers, processors, distributors, exporters, importers, and logistics partners.
• Work closely with operations, supply chain, quality, legal, finance, and credit teams to ensure contracts are executed accurately and on time.
Qualifications and experience
• Degree in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, finance, business, supply chain, or a related discipline.
• Typically 3–7 years’ experience in agricultural commodity trading, merchandising, procurement, sales, or supply-chain roles.
• Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, physical commodity contracts, quality standards, and logistics.
• Strong commercial judgement, numerical capability, negotiation skills, and ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.
• Professional fluency in English; relevant local or regional language capability is advantageous.
