Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute with almost a century of experience is known as one of the most reputed scientific research centers in Iran. This institute began its activities in 1925 under the supervision of Ministry of Agriculture-Jahad. At the time death rates during outbreaks of Rinderpest were extremely high, so Razi Institute took up widespread eradication efforts and after a short time produced vaccine against Rinderpest. Thus, a big step in the history of the country’s biological industry was taken which was followed by production of a broad range of vaccines and antisera.The institute’s activities have been significantly developed by delegation of management to the specialists of the country in 1951. Quality production of many important veterinary and medical vaccines like Measles, Mumps, Rubella and MMR has been done in the last couple of years after the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
