Médecins Sans Frontières /Doctors without Borders (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organisation founded by a group of doctors and journalists in Paris, France in 1971. MSF responds to emergencies (armed conflicts, epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters etc.) and situations of extreme hardship to deliver assistance to people whose health or lives are in danger. Independent of any political, religious or military interests, MSF offers assistance in a spirit of impartiality, irrespective of gender, race, religion, creed or political convictions. MSF was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1999. In Iran, MSF has provided medical assistance since 1990. Launched in 2012, the South Tehran project provides medical consultations, nursing care and psychosocial support to the most vulnerable in Harandi. In May 2018, the Mashhad project began providing medical and nursing care to male drug users in Golshahr, now expanding to reach both male and female vulnerable population in Golshahr.
