The British Embassy in Tehran is currently closed, however in order to ensure the continued safety and security of its staff, embassy and estate the British Embassy Tehran has a vacancy for a Post Security Manager, Grade B3 (L). The Post Security Manager plays an important and integral role in the security team. The PSM needs to operate with the security team but needs to have the ability and flexibility to retain a certain level of decision making and be allowed and encouraged to use his / her initiative and to be able to work without close supervision. Additionally, the PSM must also possess excellent communications skills and be able to communicate clearly and unambiguously to all levels within the Embassy. The PSM will also need to demonstrate good decision making capabilities and be able to offer solutions rather than just identify and pass on problems. Main Purpose of Job: To support and assist the Post Security Officer and the Regional Overseas Security Manager in providing a safe and secure working / living environment for all staff at the British Embassy Tehran, incorporating Ferdowsi and Gholhak compounds. Main Duties and Responsibilities: - Acting as Deputy to the Regional Overseas Security Manager (ROSM) for security related tasks at the British Embassy Tehran compounds (Ferdowsi and Gholhak). - Lead and manage the Guard Force program including discipline and appraisal matters. - Manage operational security and act as first point of contact for the Security Team, conducting daily briefings and meetings where necessary. In close coordination with the Security Section Administrator, monitor the guard disposition and ensure that manning levels are maintained, conducting regular security visits and inspections of the Ferdowsi and Gholhak compounds. - Provide a continuous training platform, ensuring uniformity and best practice is disseminated throughout the Guard Force. Assist the ROSM where necessary in providing detailed security training for all staff and guards. - Ensure Guard Orders (General & Post specific) are regularly reviewed and updated as and when changes occur, and that the Security Team's performance is always of the highest professional standard and in accordance with agreed Standard Operating Procedures. - Monitor the local security situation, notifying the ROSM and PSO on changes to the local security environment. Brief the ROSM, and/or PSO, on security matters that are/may affect the secure operation of the Embassy and, where necessary and agreed with ROSM/PSO, issue security advisory notices via email/SMS to Embassy staff and, where necessary spouse/partner. Other administrative/professional tasks as detailed by the ROSM. - When required and in-conjunction with the ROSM, conduct safety and security surveys on UK staff residential properties; reporting all recommendations to the Embassy Corporate Services team; ensuring recommendations are completed prior to staff occupancy. - The PSM will also be required to co-ordinate the commensurate level of security for staff functions/events on and off compound and assisting in the coordination of security protocols during major events and VIP visits. - With the ROSM, secure funding and resources to meet organisational/security objectives. Co-ordinate security projects (OSA recommendations) using available information to make tactical and strategic decisions in order to bring them in on budget and within agreed timeframes. - Oversee the use and maintenance of the Embassy protective security systems, equipment and procedures. - Ensuring the maintenance regime for all security related equipment is followed and requesting remedial repair action where faults are identified. - Reporting all security deficiencies/weaknesses and security breaches identified to the ROSM. Working Hours and Remuneration The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: monthly salary of IRR 63,384,356, annual income of IRR 857,294,691 /year including all allowances, Supplementary Medical Insurance and Employer's Social Security Contributions. Conditioned working hours are 35 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07.30 am until 2.30 pm on Sunday to Thursday. However, the successful candidate may be required to work outside normal working hours.

Delivering at Pace Resource Management: - The PSM will have direct Line Management responsibility for 8 Shift Leaders, and counter-signing officer responsibility for 32 Security Guards. Minimum Qualifications: Essential: - Fluent in spoken and written English and Farsi - Project & Facilities Management - Physically fit; - Good hearing and eyesight (may be corrected with glasses); - Speak, read and write English Language to IELTS 6-8; - Management proficiency; - Administrative skills; - Computer literate including MS Office applications; - Responsible, dependable and trustworthy with integrity; - Professionalism; - Assertive with good interpersonal skills; - Good communication and negotiation skills; - Good reporting skills; - Ability to work under mental pressure when dealing with uncertainty and multiple priorities; - Be able to think objectively and decisively; - Flexibility; - Able to pass a UK HMG Security Clearance Check. Desirable: - Understands radio and other communication system - Understands technical security system (CCTV, Alarms, etc.)
