Job Description

Title: National Driver/Clerk (Post Open for Iranian Nationals Only) Number of posts: One Type of contract: Appointment for Limited Duration (ALD) Category: General Service (Local) Grade: GSL-3 Duration: First three months (probationary period – renewable) Duty station: Tehran Issuing date: 18 March 2009 Closing date: Until the position is filled (Early applications, i.e. within the first 2 weeks, are highly recommended) Under the direct supervision of the UNAMA Head of Liaison Office in Tehran, the incumbent will be responsible for the following: Duties and responsibilities: - Assist with media monitoring under the supervision of international staff and NPOs; - Perform driving duties for Head of Office (including responsibility for the maintenance of vehicles); - Conduct web searches for relevant articles; - Perform office duties; - Support Admin Assistant with receiving/answering calls and convey messages to the concerned parties; - Assist Admin Assistant with the arrangement of meetings; - Act as Admin Assistant during times of Admin Assistant’s leave; - Filing and archiving of records; - Collect, scan and archive relevant articles from English and Iranian newspapers; - Perform other administration related duties (i.e. financial functions, procurement tasks, etc.) as and when required/assigned. Competencies: Planning and Organizing: Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan. Creativity: Ability to actively seek to improve services, offer new and different options to solve problems/meet office needs, and promote and persuade others to consider new ideas. Communication: Proven and sustained communication (verbal and written) skills. Teamwork: Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to listen and work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience: - High school diploma; - Possession of a valid driver's permit issued by the national authorities. - At least two years of relevant experience in general administration and two years in driving with International/National NGOs, preferably UN - Good communication and inter-personal skills; - Fluency in spoken and written English; - Solid computer skills (MS Word and Excel).
