Job Description

•Main Objective: The incumbent will be responsible for manage and facilitate the accurate preparation and filing of JTI's indirect and direct taxes and SSO periodic declarations for the Tax Affairs Lead's review. The position supports the Tax Affairs Lead in the development and coordination of tax strategies and plans to identify opportunities for process improvement and address potential areas of risk. The Tax Affairs Supervisor will work in close collaboration with the Tax Affairs Lead and peers to ensure compliance with tax laws, ensure accurate and timely internal tax reporting to the Headquarter global. The incumbent will also support the Tax Affairs Lead in monitoring the external environment for current and impending changes to tax regulation (including custom duties), make the appropriate updates to policies and strategies and timely communicate those changes internally. The ideal candidate is single minded in its pursuit of ensuring compliance. He/she achieves this goal through optimizing reporting procedures and supporting the Tax Affairs Lead in the successful function of the Tax Department. •Main Responsibilities: -Direct / Indirect Tax and SSO Administration •Prepare and review of JTI's tax returns and SSO administrations, i.e. support the Tax Affairs Lead in the preparation of Tax reporting package and planning cycle, seasonal sale & purchase reports, VAT return, CIT return, SSO audit and any other reports as required by the Tax / SSO authorities •Administrate recurring tax matters such as withholding tax and rental tax payments, provision of required letters requested by suppliers & distributors with respect to tax and SSO matters •Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax and SSO forms for JTI Iran •Facilitate the internal coordination and follow up of tax and SSO letters and provide specific reports to address the Tax Authorities and SSO offices ad hoc queries •Manage and facilitate direct and indirect tax audits by the Tax Authorities / SSO: preparing responses, creating schedules -Governance and Controls •Support the Tax Affairs Lead in all period and ad-hoc internal tax reporting matters towards the Headquarter global tax function •Support the Tax Affairs Lead in the preparation of tax business cases and related approval process •Provide support with various internal audits and / or projects with tax impact (e.g. providing data, addressing audit points) -Process Improvement •Investigate and implement opportunities for process improvement in JTI tax procedures •Address current weaknesses in the control environment (e.g. develop excise tax procedure) •Take co-ownership in the maintenance of custom duty procedures, documentation and internal reporting •Support the Tax Affairs Lead in the development and implement of strategic tax planning -Environment Monitoring •Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate effects of these developments to the local management team and Global Tax Group. •Proactively develop and propose strategies to capitalize on changes to tax / custom legislation. -Monthly Closing •Provide adequate support to the Accounting Department in each monthly close (e.g. amount of tax provision) -Financial Planning •Provide adequate support for financial planning for each planning cycle (e.g. tax projections)


-Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, MBA -5 years’ experience in tax affairs, Accounting -Familiar with Iran Tax and SSO regulation -Experience with IFRS tax reporting standards is a plus, in particular IAS 12 "Direct tax contingency" and IAS 37 "Indirect tax contingency" -Microsoft office literate -Exposure to ERP systems a plus -Fluent spoken/written Farsi and English / Any other language a plus
