Job Description

The Role: Job duties typically include planning and implementing security measures to protect computer systems, networks and data. Candidates are expected to stay up-to-date on the latest intelligence, including hackers’ methodologies, in order to anticipate security breaches. They also are responsible for preventing data loss and service interruptions by researching new technologies that will effectively protect a network. ________________________________________ Main responsibilities: • Creating, testing and implementing network disaster recovery plans • Performing risk assessments and testing of data processing systems • Designing, implementing and monitoring security policies • Recommending security enhancements and purchases • Training staff on network and information security procedures • research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them • Monitoring for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorized or illegal activity • Using advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities • Engaging in 'ethical hacking' • Identifying potential weaknesses and implement measures • Investigating security alerts and provide incident response • Generating reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders • Assisting internal and external audits relating to information security • Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations. Upgrades system by implementing and maintaining security controls. • Maintains quality service by following organization standards. • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
