Job Description
● Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
● Carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.
● Prepare specimens and samples.
● Formulate and develop pharmaceutical products.
● Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment.
● Keep equipment in a clean and serviceable condition and ensure the safe removal of waste.
● Record, and sometimes interpret, results to present to senior colleagues.
● Use computers and perform mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs.
● Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labeled.
● Keep up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability.
● Conduct searches on identified topics relevant to the research.
● Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks.
● Run their laboratories safely and efficiently.
● Responsible for all aspects of the labs where they work, including equipment, employees, supplies, software, and documentation.
● Train lab technicians and assistants on the correct use of lab equipment, in addition to mentoring and disciplining lab staff.
● Make sure their employees follow industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples.
● Schedule lab or equipment use time for staff.
● Responsible for purchasing lab supplies or preparing ordering lists.
● Handle security documents and must ensure that all information and data collected in the lab is kept safe and can involve the use of special software and computers.
