Job Description

This Company expects a Piping Engineer to be able to: • Assist in Sales of piping materials and products in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications • Produce commodity purchase specifications (pipe, fittings, etc.) • Perform calculations using company or industry-approved software for this process, CAESAR II software in accordance with B31.3 and other code, standard & specification requirements • Prepare specialty item datasheets for pipes, fittings, etc. • Define piping line classes (flange ratings) • Complete required data in the line list • Experience in welding Inspection and NDS Tests • Resolve questions regarding missing items & misfits • Prepare piping specialty item list • Prepare valve list & datasheets • Prepare and check tie-in lists • Check isometric materials • Perform maximum allowable flange rating calculations • Perform wall thickness calculation • Prepare preliminary material take-offs • Prepare RFQ documents, shop fabrication RFQs,Track statuses of RFQs, RFPs • Prepare change orders • Perform final MTOs or perform thorough checking of final MTOs if created from the 3D model • Prepare supplements to material RFQs • Prepare and review valve manual MTOs • Prepare and review specialty item manual MTOs • Prepare and review P&ID manual valve tagging (if required) • Prepare and review P&ID specialty item tagging • Assist with the preparation and organization of piping calculations • Conduct document checking and design verification tasks in accordance with company and project procedures • Seek solutions and coordinate work with piping design group and other departments • Prepare technical bid evaluations for piping items • Supervise and train junior stress engineers • Create and respond to technical queries • Carry out site surveys, overseas where required gathering detailed survey information and producing survey reports • Carry out 3D modelling & design activities of piping systems & supports • Check detailed design drawings of piping systems & supports in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications • Prepare & check materials take-offs and bill of materials • Provide technical input during detailed engineering of projects • Provide support and input into the preparation of technical files. • Provide support and input into the preparation of construction work packs and certification documentation • Responsible for technical decision making associated with any given scope of work. • Establish good working relationships and communication with discipline leads, department managers and clients • Contribute to the development of engineering staff • Attend in activities and co-ordination meetings in the absence of manager • Participate in technical meetings inside and outside of office • Implement QMS within the discipline • Ensure Quality Control throughout the discipline, works with the Quality Management System and participate in regular quality audits • Follow all applicable procedures and work instructions • Keep continual improvement as a goal and apply Lessons Learnt on the past projects for better performance • Preparation of piping specifications and data sheets • Review and Checking of Piping design documents, piping vendor documents and drawings, all piping 3D Models, Stress analysis reports, final engineering documents, piping support, MTO, Layouts, Isometrics, etc. • Assist in review and quality control of mechanical engineering design work by design contractors • Assist in the development and update of department standards and procedures Perform plant and piping design activities • Collaborate with team of designers to complete all mechanical capital projects and provide all engineering support • Prepare and design all construction bid documents • Provide support to all expense projects and maintain accuracy in all piping project and ensure compliance to all piping material specifications and maintain knowledge on all orders • Analyze all mechanical designs and prepare various concepts for piping designs and develop required mechanical drawings • Provide support to all purchase activities and evaluate all vendor submits • Inspect and analyze all products of company and suppliers to ensure adherence to all standard requirements and present technology • Provide assistance to all senior engineers and recommend improvements to all design and travel to site to analyze all equipment and maintain efficient relation with all plant personnel. • Assist to make arrangements for all business trips for various departmental tasks and design all technical specifications and assist to procure and fabricate all materials • Coordinate with various teams to administer all assignments • Provide appropriate solutions for all parties and evaluate and analyze all client requirements and design all piping specifications for clients and recommend appropriate alternatives • Interpret all codes and maintain overall performance of all piping activities • Provide support to all functions and develop and maintain all activities according to project schedule and prepare appropriate forecasts • Develop new methods to recommend improvements to all activities of piping section • Define piping and equipment metallurgy • Prepare materials selection philosophy • Prepare MSDs • Prepare corrosion study report • Review welding, coating & existing line class specifications • Ensure the Piping & Layout engineering support to different projects In the case of call for tender • Ensures the achievement of assigned goals and the fulfillment of the project quality requirements and the contractual obligations • Analyzes the technical documents (specifications, calculation notes, drawings, etc.) & all mechanical designs and prepare various concepts for piping designs and develop required mechanical drawings • Seeks as far as possible solutions which can bring overall savings to the project • Estimates quantities or validates estimation done by other specialist of the team • Checks all produced documents (internal or subcontracted) like design reports, technical specifications, drawings etc under his responsibility • Writes the Piping an Layout methodologies / Design Premises comprehensive of all necessary data, general and specific design guidelines (the technical road map for the discipline engineering activities) • Attend to internal review activities and inter-discipline check meetings • Supervise the writing of specifications and requisitions as well as technical bid evaluations. • Inform on a permanent basis the Project Piping and any foreseen technical or financial or delay risk. • Provide technical support to all expense projects and maintain accuracy in all piping project and ensure compliance to all piping material specifications and maintain knowledge on all orders. • Provide support to all purchase activities and evaluate all vendors • Inspect all mechanical equipments and analyze all equipments and ensure adherence to all present technology • Provide assistance to manager and recommend improvements to all design and travel to site to analyze all piping materials and maintain efficient relation with all plant personnel • Assist to make arrangements for all business trips for various departmental tasks and design all technical specifications and assist to procure and fabricate all materials • Coordinate with various teams to administer all assignments • Provide appropriate solutions for all parties and evaluate and analyze all client requirements and design all piping specifications for clients and recommend appropriate alternatives • Interpret all codes and maintain overall performance of all piping activities • Provide support to all functions and develop and maintain all activities according to project schedule and prepare appropriate forecasts. • Develop new methods to recommend improvements to all activities of piping section • Participate in Cost Management Meetings • Assist in Sourcing Materials for Piping Systems • Detect any irregularities that may affect the process • Design a piping system that will withstand the elements of the installation site • Communicate plans to non-Engineer decision makers & team (Written and Verbal) • Expertise in drafting Skills like components of piping blueprints
