Job Description

Analyze, design, install, maintain and provide technical support to the City's network and infrastructure system. This is accomplished by serving as the technical lead for the infrastructure support personnel, overseeing the information technology infrastructure budget, monitoring help desk calls, and managing infrastructure projects. Other duties include assisting personnel with technical issues such as installing and maintaining hardware, software, and computer updates. Duties/Responsibilities: • Maintains hardware, software, and updates by obtaining quotes for new servers; installs new equipment; ensures all servers are current; and troubleshoots hardware failures. • Maintains security permissions by arranging new user accounts; oversees proper security for all employees to access data; and removes terminated employee information from the server. • Resolves user problems by answering daily requests through the help desk system; troubleshoots user problems remotely; recovers data; and researches problems for a resolution. • Maintains data center infrastructure by maintaining server and network hardware and software; ensures code and security updates are current; provides continuing education; and researches system improvements. • Maintains the backup system by configuring daily and weekly back up jobs; changes backup tapes; travels to offsite locations to change tapes on local tape drives; and retrieves old tapes for redistribution. • Provides installation, management, and maintenance of the enterprise antivirus solution by installing new antivirus software; maintains antivirus updates; researches new versions of software protection; and assists with removal of computer viruses.
