Job Description
We are looking for a GIS Specialist is to create maps and graphs, using GIS software and data collection equipment. She/he Performs research to obtain and expand existing datasets and gather and report on GIS data and determine how data sets are best utilized through GIS and also compile geographic and demographic data from different sources. Key Responsibilities: • Consults with external stakeholders to access censuses, fieldwork, satellite and aerial imagery,and maps • Compile data for statistics to incorporate into documents and reports • Analyses and model relationships between geographic data sets • Operates and maintains GIS system hardware, software, and peripherals • Contributes in remote sensing tasks in company’s projects • Uses various geological software to prepare technical document and records • Preprocess and Process satellite images (ETM+, OLI & ASTER….). • Compiles geological data to build knowledge base • Writes technical report • Trains and mentor new staff, educates and mentors new GIS users
Requirements
• Min BSc degree in Geology or exploration • Min 5 years of experience in GIS and exploration projects • Experience in the use of ArcGIS desktop • In-depth knowledge of GIS, databases, GIS principles, practices and techniques. • Proficiency in English (advanced level) • Proficiency in MS Office (Advanced level) • Proficiency in technical writing and reporting • Be a result orientated • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills great attention to detail. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees
