·Provision of wholesale and retail telecommunication services;
·Sales of network traffic capacity to local or international carriers or entities;
·Rental of network infrastructure facilities to local or international carriers or entities;
·Provision of the Internet and data and digital platform related products and services;
·Provision of all other sources of value added services that is currently available and to be developed in the future;
·Dealing with e-commerce, mobile-commerce activities of the above telecommunication networks;
·Provision of customer services, including but not limited to customer relationship management and Call Centre service

About the Job :
Role Complexity:
• Ensure Core roll-out addresses requirements of multiple BSS vendors and regions
• Interface with VAS, Product Development and BSS departments to integrate all needs
• Manage the relationship with other operators to ensure sufficient interconnect capacity and quality
• Interfacing with Regulator relating to Core affecting issues such as numbering plan and allocation of point codes
Task Complexity:
• Provide core elements coverage capacity and functionality requirements timeously and ahead of traffic.
• Strategic planning of PS and CS core network (switching and signaling)
• Stay ahead of Competitors on number of roaming partners
• Ensure that sufficient network capacity is deployed with a 6-month headroom to cater for the traffic forecast.
• Participate in Group initiatives/activities in the area of core planning.
• Documentation of methodologies, plans, policies and procedures for core network planning.
• Record keeping of technical details on network design, implementation plans and capital projects.
• Be a subject matter expert on core planning issues by studying global trends and networking with other professionals in this field and by providing documented recommendations to various departments.
Supervisory Complexity:
• Manage a team of experts interfacing with across multiple disciplines
• Balance requirement of staff to drive planning while maintaining a level of operational support as well.
Leadership Complexity:
• Influence various internal and external role-players in order to achieve objectives
Managerial complexity:
• Motivate, coach, guide staff
• Manage performance of staff to meet objectives of department (as dictated by the business requirements)
• Manage capital and operational expenditure

Profile of Ideal Candidate :
Education:
BSC.Eng (Electronics) or equivalent
Experience:
5 to 7 years in Telecoms environment (preferably GSM), experience in switching planning, value-added voice services, leading cross-functional project teams
Knowledge:
Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Interpret URS, User Trends within Telecommunication, Trends of convergence of Networks (Next-gen netw.), Voice Over-IP, Trends within Technology, Network Business Objectives, Knowledge of vendors and suppliers capacity and trends, Knowledge of other network providers developments, Basic Telecomm legislation, Knowledge of voicemail platforms, Integration of network systems, Knowledge of Enterprise solutions, Knowledge of Unified messaging system, GSM core network elements (MSC, HLR/AUC/EIR, STP), Knowledge of 3G technologies, 3G solutions of existing suppliers, Knowledge of GratisTel system, Integration of network elements, Knowledge of International roaming implementation , Knowledge of International roaming systems, Voice Network Design, Basics - GPRS Network, MTN vocabulary, Knowledge of systems engineering for lifecycle, Optima and SS7 stats, SS7, Intelligent Network platform, Teletraffic Engineering, Equipment dimensioning principles, , MS Project, Telecoms facilities, Charging principles, Numbering plan, IP networks, Understand MTN rating and provisioning systems, GSM fundamentals, Understand MTN OSS system, Location based services and platforms, SS7 passive monitoring system, Knowledge and application of Human Resource practices, Knowledge and application of Industrial Relations policies and procedures, Knowledge and application of company policies and procedures. |
