The RoleThe RoleFinancial Accountant Duties: Keeps abreast on changes in international accounting standards and advises key stakeholders of changes. Ensures that records meet legal and tax requirements. Assist in monitoring and review of accounting and related systems for accuracy and completeness. Assist with implementing policy directives and formulating business unit procedures for approval. Developing, implementing and maintaining internal control systems and business practices. Ensures that the provisions of all legislation governing the business operation are understood and implemented. Ensures that all controls relating to internal control compliance is executed. Co-ordination, testing and of the internal control testing process. Updating of master data in IFS. Responsible for sound control and governance at ASPC. IFS Super User Assist in maintaining security and access controls in IFS/ERP Learning and Growth Functions well within a team environment Manages own skill levels, succession and career progression. Shares values, goal clarity and performance alignment/direction with team. Manages communication and change management initiatives. Required outputs (functional): Impacts of changes in current accounting policies are correctly and timely reported. Regulatory compliance Proactive identification of potential risk Policy directives implemented timely. Standard operating procedures and guidelines developed and implemented. Annual update and improvement of Accounting Manual. Annual update and improvement of related IMS documents: Petty cash procedure, fixed asset capitalization and Limits of Authority. Compliance to all statutory requirements. Adherence to specific legislation governing the industry. Adherence to the Tax, VAT and Companies Act. Effective implementation of internal controls/governance at ASPC. Internal control testing planned and executed on time. Control deviations investigated and resolved. Ensure master data is updated in IFS. Create and update supplier master data in IFS, blocking unused suppliers. Follow up of audit findings from finance. Quarterly governance file testing: (Specific job requirement.) as required |
